Installing Python 3 from the existing Amazon Linux 2 packages should be fairly easy. If you want to install the latest Python version 3.11.0 it might be tricky, but we are going to cover it in one of our next posts.
Prerequisites
- Amazon Linux 2
- sudo privileges
Install Python3 on Amazon Linux 2
Step 1. Update the instance packages.
sudo yum update
Step 2. Install Python3.
sudo yum install python3
Step 3. Verify the installation.
python3 --version
