A lot of useful checks can be made with telnet
in terms of connectivity, sending test emails, access to databases, etc. Telnet is an application protocol based on TCP, and it can allow you to establish client-server
TCP connections. Here I’m going to show you quickly, how to check Redis connectivity with Telnet.
Prerequisites
- Telnet
- Redis
Solution
Step 1. To check Redis connection with Telnet, run:
telnet <redis-endpoint-or-ip> <port>
Step 2. Example:
telnet redis-prod.devcoops.com 6379
Step 3. Once the connection is established, check if Redis is alive.
ping
Output:
PONG
Conclusion
The last step shows us that Redis is responding to our request. To find more cool Redis commands and hacks, simply browse the Redis category. Feel free to leave a comment below and if you find this tutorial useful, follow our official channel on Telegram.
